First Year

  • Week 1-2: (P) Safety drills, first aid, use of fire extinguishers. (T) Occupational Safety & Health.
  • Week 3-4: (P) Use of hand tools, marking, cutting. (T) Introduction to electricity, fundamental terms.
  • Week 5-6: (P) Basic wiring practice, wire joints, soldering. (T) Conductors, insulators, Ohm's law.
  • Week 7-8: (P) Verifying Kirchhoff's laws on breadboards. (T) DC circuits, series and parallel connections.
  • Week 9-10: (P) Measuring resistance, voltage, and current using a multimeter. (T) Electrical measuring instruments.
  • Week 11-12: (P) Assembling a simple chemical cell, testing batteries. (T) Cells and batteries, magnetism.
  • Week 13-14: (P) Plotting sine waves using a CRO. (T) Alternating Current (AC) fundamentals.
  • Week 15-16: (P) Wiring simple circuits with switches and lamps. (T) Basic wiring systems.

  • Week 30-32: (P) Wiring different types of lamps (incandescent, fluorescent, LED). (T) Illumination concepts.
  • Week 33-34: (P) Godown wiring and staircase wiring setups. (T) Advanced domestic wiring circuits.
  • Week 35-36: (P) Measuring power and energy in single-phase circuits. (T) Power, energy, and power factor.
  • Week 37-39: (P) Dismantling, identifying parts, and re-assembling a ceiling fan. (T) Single-phase induction motors.
  • Week 40-42: (P) Testing and repairing domestic appliances like electric irons and mixers. (T) Domestic appliances.
  • Week 43-45: (P) Winding a small single-phase transformer. (T) Transformer principles.

Second Year

  • Week 1-3: (P) Dismantling, identifying parts, and re-assembling a DC generator. (T) DC Generators.
  • Week 4-6: (P) Operating and testing a DC motor (Shunt, Series). (T) DC Motors and Starters.
  • Week 7-9: (P) Measuring voltage, current, and power in three-phase star and delta connections. (T) Three-phase AC systems.
  • Week 10-12: (P) Connecting and testing a three-phase energy meter. (T) Three-phase power measurement.
  • Week 13-15: (P) Dismantling and re-assembling an alternator. (T) Alternators.
  • Week 16-18: (P) Operating and reversing a three-phase induction motor. (T) Three-phase induction motors.
  • Week 19-21: (P) Connecting and running a motor using a DOL (Direct-On-Line) and Star-Delta starter. (T) Motor starters and control circuits.
  • Week 22-24: Mid-Year Review & Assessment.
